The Orleans County Sheriff’s Department issued a statement saying that one of their deputies was out on patrol Wednesday at around 1:40 p.m., when he was passed by a blue Ford F-250, travelling at 82 miles-per-hour in the village of Irasburg. The deputy turned to pursue the suspect north on Route 14.

The statement goes on to say that the operator of the truck exceeded speeds of 90 miles-per-hour, refusing to pull over.

The chase lasted for around five miles, between Irasburg and Coventry, when the driver eventually stopped.

The driver was identified as Derrick Carroll. Carroll was taken into custody, and charged with Negligent Operation, Excessive Speed, and Eluding Police. He later posted bail.
