DERBY — An accident took place today outside Shaw’s Supermarket in Derby at around 4 p.m.

Police are reporting that Patricia Hodgdon, 55, of Derby, was attempting to make a left hand turn onto U.S. Route 5 from the Shaw’s Supermarket entrance, and failed to yield the right-of-way to an oncoming vehicle.

Hodgdon, driving a 2014 Jeep Compass, collided into the rear-end of a 1999 Chevy pickup truck being driven by Andy Rowell, 38, of Albany.

Rowell’s vehicle was traveling south on U.S. Route 5 at the time of the accident. There were no reported injuries.

Both vehicles were able to be driven away from the scene, with the Chevy sustaining rear-end damage, and the Jeep being damaged in the front-end.
